Restaurant closed, even if we booked a table. We left from Watford to have a 1hours journey to reach the restaurant, and it was closed. Amazing experience
Excellent as usual, took my irrascible father and the maitre d was very calm
Situated on the rapidly gentrifying part of the Acre Lane between Clapham High Street and Brixton, Khamsa has upped its game and offers an interesting addition to the already wide range of ethnic restaurants. Its been serving Algerian dishes (a variation of the familiar Tunisian and Moroccan cooking) for 7 years, but recent smartening has taken the place up market. Still no liquor licence, so the bring your own option makes it excellent value for money. We certainly intend to go again.
Very pleased with our dining experience at Khamsa. The restaurant was a little quiet when we arrived, but it soon picked up. Very attentive staff and the chef even came out to ask if we'd like to try the gluten free couscous he makes from scratch on the premises. We had the 7 salad platter for 2 to start, with homemade poppyseed bread a selection of different salads (couscous, beetroot and fennel, chickpea etc) which was very fresh and surprisingly filling. For the main we both had the modern couscous with lamb and chicken skewers and spicy mergers sausage. This was really tasty, and with so much meat! Too full for dessert, but we did have some lovely fresh mint tea. NB Khamsa doesn't have an alcohol licence, but it is BYO if you want to drink. Highly recommended.
