Came here about a month ago looking for a coffee and something at about 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. It looks very twee from the outside and the cakes do look so scrumptious. The waitress was very French and had limited English the guy in the kitchen assisted. We needed gluten free and fortunately they did a very nice chocolate orange muffin. But that was possibly the only thing I could have eaten apart from a Salad unfortunately. Coffee and tea ok ,nice large cups but not very hot contents. It's nice and bright inside and you are not squashed in at all. Some quirky wallpaper and obje'dart. Wasn't majorly expensive , £8 for 2 drinks and 2 cakes . Parking near might be a problem for most people. Small car park opposite. Good for taking a break from shopping in Roman Road. Just slightly lacking in atmosphere.
I live just down the road from Saveurs and have tried most of the coffee shops in the local area. Saveurs is hands-down the best. Not only is the Americano cheaper than Costa down the road (or any other chain) at a cool £1.90, it's actually FAR better than the much more expensive coffee down the road at hipster favourite Peanut Vendor. PV is a pretty snooty place and it breaks my heart to see it full of people at the weekend when Saveurs is half-empty. If only those bearded, yoga-mat-touting fools knew they could get a far better brew for a much lower price from a friendly neighbourhood place just down the road! Oh, and for vegans and other dairy-free people, there's no extra charge for soy milk. I'll keep going to Saveurs every weekend morning to get coffee for myself and my partner. You should try it to.
This is a lovely cafe, good value food, lovely staff, clean, quick and probably the only cafe I would go out of my way to go to. There is free wifi and a nice atmosphere for reading or studying.
I work near Roman Road and I frequently visit La Table des Saveurs. My go-to dish is the fresh and customizable salads nicoise, with extra tomato and olives and warm bread. I have enjoyed it over 20 times and have never been disappointed. Another reason I love this café is the friendly welcome from the two brothers who run it. They always make me feel at home, and sometimes even let me choose the music (I'm a fan of Blackberry Smoke). They call me 'Ipswich' because I support the Town team. Give it a try, grab a coffee and a salad, and chat with the staff - as long as you're not a Norwich fan!
