The wine was plentiful, and the live music added to the ambiance beautifully. However, what truly elevates this place is the overall atmosphere, the venue itself, and the incredibly witty yet entertaining staff. I've brought a few friends from East London here, and it's always a delight to watch their reactions transform from confusion about being in Battersea to realization of just how fantastic the place is!
For our main courses, I had the minted lamb shank, which was incredibly tender and served with fresh, seasonal vegetables. I opted for the haggis scallops, which were beautifully presented, and the haggis was delicious with a generous portion. I was a bit disappointed with the size of the scallops, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the dish as a whole. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, while my husband enjoyed the melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding. Both were delightful. The highlight of the evening, however, was Pier, our Swedish waiter, who was hilarious and engaging. His unique and entertaining style truly made our evening memorable. You really had to be there to appreciate it!
Probably not for everyone but if you are into 1930's music with that Parisian café vibe, you'll probably never leave. Oh, and they are a big fan of Django Reinhardt with live music most nights.
The food was outstanding; the coq au vin was exceptionally flavorful, and the wine was superb. The waiting staff were especially charming, friendly, and diligent. The gypsy jazz band added to the experience wonderfully as well. The entire bar is adorned with pictures of Django Reinhardt, creating a fantastic ambiance for a lovely evening.
I had a fantastic dining experience! The food is consistently excellent, and there's a great variety of dressings available. The wine flows freely, and the live music adds a wonderful touch. However, what truly makes the experience special is the overall atmosphere of the venue, along with the incredibly sassy—but slightly eerie—staff. I brought some friends from East London, and I always enjoy watching their reactions when they visit Battersea. Overall, it's a wonderful place!
