The front of house staff were efficient and friendly, but the kitchen organization was lacking. We ordered starters and main courses, but there were some mix-ups with our orders. After receiving an apology, we enjoyed our tasty starters. However, there was a long wait for our main courses, and only one arrived initially. We sent it back to have both dishes together, which took another 5 minutes. The manager apologized and offered us complimentary wine and coffee as compensation. The Malaysian main courses we had were excellent, though it was disappointing that the sides were considered as extras.
Our evening got off to a rough start as our reservation was lost and the staff seemed unaware of our request for a top table. After some initial confusion, we were eventually seated and received good service. The menu at Olio's was a mix of brasserie and Malaysian cuisine, and we had chosen the restaurant specifically for the Malaysian dishes. Unfortunately, many items on the Malaysian menu were unavailable, including spring rolls, chicken satay, their recommended curried chicken, curried lamb, and more. Due to my shellfish allergy, I was limited to fried chicken wings for a starter and lentil curry or beef curry for mains. The fried chicken wings were greasy and the rice was dry, but the beef curry was enjoyable. We decided to skip dessert.
The food was frozen, the white wine was warm, and the service was terrible. I do not recommend dining at this restaurant.
From their website we went to the pages relating to Afternoon Tea and from there attempted to book a table. We left comments relating to our dietary requirements from which it should have be clear that this was a booking for Afternoon Tea. On arrival at the hotel we were advised that we were too late for Tea and were eventually and I must say reluctantly offered a two course meal in exchange for the Groupon voucher that we had for the Tea. We were only allowed to order from the Early Dining set menu the cost of which was less than the voucher value. The Tea was booked with a voucher purchased as a present for our anniversary and both my wife and myself had been looking forward to it. The initial reluctance of the restaurant staff to honour the voucher and offer a suitable alternative spoilt the Afternoon for both of us.
Basic dining experience, lights were very bright setting no mood and there was no music or anything playing. Also beer was off. Steak was nice though.
