Be very careful when purchasing drinks here. Staff make prices up as they go along, especially if you're not a local. Absolute rip off
Really nice pub inside, really nice staff and very clean. But, a very big but, two pints, two meals of pie and mash £54.00! 'Nuff said.
I'd booked for lunch as suggested online but it was pretty empty when we arrived. It's what I would call a proper pub in a traditional style. The food was really very good with generous portions and it was not over priced as I expected it to be. A pleasant surprise. A good stock of wines, spirits and beers and the staff were friendly, smiley people. Across the road from Waterloo station so ideal.
Meeting up with old friends from Ireland, I chose the Wellington Hotel, which is a Fullers pub on the ground floor, for its convenience to Waterloo station, plus I’ve been there before and knew it was a good place for lunch. There is a good selection of smaller and larger dishes on the menu. I had the beer battered haddock sandwich with triple cooked chips while my friends had the steak, shallots mushroom pie with mash, veg and gravy and the scampi with chips and peas. The portions were good size and we all agreed that the quality of our meals was very good. The bar was fairly busy but service was quick and friendly throughout.
