My grandmother used to live very close to where Icarus is located, at 519 Richmond Street, near Central Avenue opposite Victoria Park in London, Ontario. This has been my neighborhood since the 1930s, MY-London neighborhood. I think Icarus is a great name for a restaurant and bar. Icarus, in Greek mythology, was the son of Daedalus, who dared to fly too close to the sun on wings made of feathers and wax. His wings melted from the heat of the sun, and he fell to his death. We chose to visit during non-busy hours because we value a relaxed dining experience over speed. We didn't mind waiting, as we enjoyed the company and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Greek salad is served cold, so we didn't have any issues with the temperature of our food. Our server was friendly and professional, and we thoroughly enjoyed our Greek salad. We will definitely be returning in the future.
I visited this restaurant during the annual London Wine and Food Show at the Metroland Center and enjoyed two delicious lunches. I had the spinach and phyllo pastry while my partner had the lamb meatballs. We revisited the restaurant once the Londilicious festival began and there were 30 other places to choose from. It was a great time to enjoy a meal!
Im not the one to complain but i have been at Icarus 3 times and the last 2 times i didnt have the experience that I did when it first opened. the food and the service is not the same.
Wonderful evening with amazing food! We took family out and everyone loved their food choices even my niece who is vegetarian. I cannot say enough about the Baclava cheesecake Planing a work trip there in the near future would definitely recommend thus restaurant- good value too
Most of the Greek restaurants I've been to lately -- think of the large places on the Danforth in Toronto -- are defined by their large grills. A plate of pork souvlaki that is likely ready to serve as you walk in, right? This is not the Icarus model. Moussaka took 25 minutes, tasty and cooked fresh. Appetizer plates were quite tasty. Greek salad was authentic, not weighed down by cheap lettuce. It would have been better, though, if the service were more streamlined. The staff made lots of visits, but seemed unsure how to handle cutlery, were slow to take orders, slow to serve appetizers, too much talking, etc.
