Meals are what you would expect of a typical north american Chinese cuisine style. They have great two can, three can, four can dine for combos (menu pre-fixe), as well as order per dish items on quite an extensive menu. The menus could be updated (items changed or crossed out, or prices altered with white-out;) but, the service is ultra friendly, the food is good and the servings are of good size. I have never seen it busy, and therefore, no longer make reservations, and it is a good idea to bring a sweater as they don't over heat due to the space being under utilized! They do offer take out though and it seems more busy for that. They have a limited wine selection and simple bar stock - but prices are very reasonable for these items, and four can eat well with a bottle of wine for $70.00 If you are lucky you may catch the owners daughter playing piano; but, rarely if customers are around!
Telephone service the last time was abdominal. The snippy person on the phone insisted what I was trying to order for take out (½ order of Cantonese Chow Mein) was not available even though I have ordered it in the past. Upon trying to discuss this, the woman hung up the phone and blocked my number when I tried to call back. And my family had been customers for many, many years. Grat way to treat long time customers. Lousy customer service. Can't imagine ordering in the restaurant. Will NEVER order there again.
I worked in this restaurant when I was a teenager. Back then the food was outstanding; some of the best in town. And 20 years later nothing has changed; literally nothing. The original owners sold the place a few years ago but the recipes stayed with the restaurant. I ate there last week while visiting family in the area and it was like going back in time. The spring rolls, homemade plum sauce, the szechuan chicken. it's all the same delicious food I remember from my days in the kitchen packing takeout. The atmosphere inside is very dated and quiet (we were the only ones there on a Monday evening) but they must do a pretty brisk takeout business; several people came in the pick up food. Give this place a try if you're in the mood for consistently fantastic Chinese. You won't be disappointed.
Used to go to this hidden away neighbourhood Chinese Restaurant when I used to live in the area almost 30 years ago. Moved away and haven't tried it in over 15 years. Worth the drive from North London, although next time I will be sure to eat in as the good smell almost drove me to start eating on my commute back!
Located on McGregor Street in London in a small plaza, but well worth the lookup. The lady that runs the place is very accommodating and serves top quality Chinese food. The place is small but decorated with authentic décor from Taiwan and is very tastefully done. The food is very well cooked and presented by the friendly staff, and an added nice touch is the fact they have American jazz music playing quietly in the background. If you want gaudy, buffet style then this is not for you....they serve you what you order....and do it in a nice way.
