Contribuisci feedbackIf you are staying at Windermere Manor Hotel, Restaurant Ninety One, the in-house eatery, is the obvious place to eat. And if, like me, you don't have a car, it is really the only place to eat. This is most unfortunate, at least judging from my experience.In the evening, I could have gone to the restaurant itself, but instead I chose to have room service. I perused the menu and noticed a lot of very pricey dishes. I chose to order a simple dinner: a meal-size salad, an order of fries, and a glass of white wine. I was told it would be delivered to my room in twenty minutes.Forty-five minutes later I called the restaurant again, and was told the food was on its way. When the food finally showed up, it arrived without a napkin or any cutlery! The server then left me to go back to the restaurant to get these obvious items.The food was very disappointing. The "grilled avocado salad" included half an avocado, sliced, which was very hard, tasteless, and unripe. It had certainly not been grilled. There was some butter lettuce, a scattering of pine nuts, a few tiny green plants, and that was it. Terrible. The french fries were limp and wet--I suspected them of having been frozen. The wine was tolerable. All in all, it was a horrible dinner, and it set me back about $50, which included my tip to the hapless server who could not even remember to bring a fork with his delivery.The next morning I ventured into Restaurant Ninety One for the breakfast that was included with my night's stay. This meal, too, was a huge disappointment. The dining room was empty; I was greeted by a stone-faced man who told me I could have food from the small buffet, or order more from the menu at an additional cost. Since the place was empty, I chose a lovely table, by a wall of windows looking out on a green lawn. But the food--ugh. I picked up some limp sliced fruit, a very hard and dry muffin, and a hard-boiled egg. The tea was basically hot water and a tea bag. Based on my two meals, I would strongly recommend AGAINST eating at Restaurant Ninety One. Two bad experiences are more than enough.
The owners need to know that their efforts do not go unnoticed. The cheese board was innovative and the homespun honey was to die for. In our two visits we had the flank special and lamb trio that were both incredible. Kudos to the wait staff Terry and Maegan for making our dining experience perfect. You must eat here!!
We had not been here for a long time. I remember having a lovely meal in an open, screened in area, and watching deer out in the field while we were eating. Sadly the open area is gone, and the food at this visit was not lovely. The salad consisted of some mixed greens with a canned peach half. I had the salmon and wild rice. The salmon was dry and the rice was so salty it was inedible.
Had an amazing experience last night at Restaurant Ninety One. If you're looking to celebrate a special night, this is the place to go in London. Everything is locally sourced and made in-house. So much flavour in every bite!
Really great food, prepared and presented with taste. We enjoyed the duck and the steak plates, both delicious. I personally preferred the steak, done to perfection. Add the charcuterie board, and I was a happy eater.
