Wako Japanese Restaurant - London

The owner of the restaurant cooks and waits tables, but speaks very poor English, making it impossible to communicate effectively. I requested to substitute sushi for extra salad in my dinner order (which would have been cheaper for them and in their favor), but it turned into an argument. It was a terrible experience, and the people at the next table also experienced similar issues. Although the food was decent when we went earlier, we will not be returning.

This restaurant is one of my favorites in the city. The atmosphere is quiet, simple, and peaceful. I have visited with friends and my child, and every time we were greeted and treated kindly by the staff. There is a lovely woman who always seems to be working there, and she is always friendly and polite. I believe any negative reviews must be a mistake. Although the seating area is not very large, I believe a larger group could be accommodated safely. I had to wait a little longer than usual because there was a big order ahead of me, but the server brought me free soup and water, which I thought was a nice gesture. The food is delicious and fresh, especially the sushi and lunch specials. The flavors are mild compared to some other restaurants, but I think this is appealing to most people. I especially enjoyed the salmon teriyaki and the Udon noodle dishes. The prices are very reasonable, and you can get a filling and healthy meal for under $15. The portions of meat or fish in the meals are generous and not filled with unnecessary fillers. We recently ordered takeout, and the food was carefully packed, hot, and fresh with no spills. The sushi options are also delicious and varied.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant! Despite the decent food, the customer service was awful. The waitress actually suggested we go to another restaurant because she said they couldn't serve us quickly enough when we were in a hurry. And there were only 2 people in the restaurant at the time! She yelled at my friend and me when we refused to pay for salads that were brought to our table before she essentially kicked us out. She even threatened to call the police and her husband joined in, preventing us from leaving while repeatedly telling us to be quiet. We felt completely mistreated and trapped in the restaurant. I have been a loyal customer in the past, but this kind of treatment is unacceptable.

I ate the other night here. Saw at the bar. Ordnete California, Tempura and the omg shrimp roll. The place was pretty busy. The service was very good. The roles were tasty, but on the small size for California, while the Allg was generous in... size. Very good service.

The service here is so friendly and fast we got take out and the server brought us complimentary soup while we waited. Loved the spicy salmon roll and the sweet potato handroll. Our favourite place!
