*There is an amazing gourmet burger/poutine joint down by the info center!! The staff at AW seem lazy and resentful. I was told an uncle burger patty would take half an hour to cook (I laughed pretty hard at that), then he told me he was serious, I said youre joking right? it would be burnt if you cooked it that long!! I figured out it was 35mins before closing and they didnt want to cook. Another time I ordered a teen burger, the lady said oh there 's going to be a wait. Then when I got to the window she said theres no wait here it is......... looked at my burger down the rd and found only 1 piece of bacon on it. Again too lazy to cook a piece of bacon. And then theres the fact that they 're supposed to sell milkshakes like every other AW.... for many years now the line has been our shake machine is broken ......so lazy owner, lazy employees I guess.
The food is delicious and the service is excellent. This place offers typical fast food options, but their breakfast is especially impressive. The prices are very reasonable, and I love coming here. My go-to is always the All Canadian breakfast.
We were in search of a fast dining option and were craving a chicken burger. We have always been fans of A and W. The chicken burgers we purchased had slightly dry buns, but the fries and onion rings were still as delicious as ever.
The family and I were driving across BC, as part of a much anticipated road trip, and entered the township of 100 Mile House minutes before 8PM. By this point we’d still not had dinner and, given the hour, options were getting fairly slim. We didn’t want to deviate from Highway 97 and thus unwittingly reduced our options even more. I originally wanted to visit P. Bass Fish and Chips (for something different than the usual), but they were just closing up shop much to my chagrin. The eatery we ended up settling for? A&W. Yippee. . . To be clear, I have nothing against A&W. In fact, anyone who’s followed me on here knows I typically give this fast-food establishment pretty high marks because they’re consistent; however, I kind of groaned this time around when A&W was suggested because, well, it seemed like all we we’d been eating for the past week was Buddy Burgers and Mama Burgers. In short, the food offerings of this MNC were starting to get tired. But that’s not to say the food wasn’t good – because it was. I just wished we could’ve changed things up a little! Anyhow, as to this particular unit of A&W, it was very quiet at the time of our arrival. In fact, we were the only dine-in customers. Given the lull in business, the workers obviously took advantage of “quiet time” because the restaurant was immaculate, which was a nice surprise given how fast-food restaurants typically are. It made for a cozy – and cheap – evening repast. We ordered the Chubby Chicken strips, Beyond Meat Burger, Buddy Burger and two Mama Burgers with fries (and a side of gravy). Again, due to how quiet it was, we got our food in very good time – all piping hot and fresh. My “Beyond Meat” burger was excellent. I still can’t get over the fact that it isn’t actually a beef patty! I was also told that the Mama Burgers were delicious and satisfying. Also, the fries with gravy were a nice addition to our meals. In fact, I don’t think there’s anything quite like A&W fries with their gravy – even McDonald’s can’t even really compete, in my view. FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 5/5 RECOMMENDATION: Even though I was bored/tired of A&W by this point, I still can’t fault them. The establishment was clean; the service quick and friendly; the price most agreeable; and the food well in line with what I’ve come to expect of this chain. We were in and out within a span of 30 minutes, which was a plus given we still had a few hours of driving to do. Recommended!
