We paid a premium rate for a large room, which was at the front overlooking the main road. We were woken by traffic at 04.30 both mornings. Service was average. Breakfast OK but slow. Coffee on both days was undrinkable, hence I chose to drink instant which was tellingly available as well. Tatty and drabbly furnished throughout, despite its proud history. Disappointing. Rooms: 2

The meal in the bar was extremely good. It was very English fare and we'll cooked. Staff were attentive and efficient. Service: 4 Location: 4
