The service was excellent, with the server describing each dish very well. We had a small table, so they removed the free tortilla and bean paste salsa from us a little too early. My friend regretted not asking them to leave it on the table, as we saw others had it until their main courses arrived. We really enjoyed the crab tostada, which they kindly shared for us since we ordered 3 starters to share. The mixed mushroom quality in a puff pastry was also delicious. The Jerusalem artichoke tamal was surprisingly light and enjoyable. The oxtail melted in your mouth. The fish of the evening was trout, and my friend and I both thought it was perfect. My cappuccino paired well with the chocolate pot dessert. Although a dessert made with local products might have been more unique, I was really in the mood for chocolate that night. There were several tables of solo diners, who were noticeably more dressed up than those at Pujol.
The overall experience at this restaurant was underwhelming. I liked the crab tostada and the escamoles, which were my first time trying ant larvae. The oxtail was decent, but nothing extraordinary. The service was good, but the food was just okay.
Quintonil is the 11th best restaurant in the world. it is far from eating well and imaginatiw and the service excellent. we were warned by people who had eaten there two days before, from the tasting menu and our dishes were just good. $mex 2300 all with a bottle of wine. I'm glad we left, but we're not going back.
I was profoundly disappointed with Quintonil given its stellar reputation. We arrived at the restaurant our table was not quite ready but we were left standing in the cramped entrance not quite sure what to do. The first course included am accompanying sauce which was so fiercely unpleasantly hot our mouths were left anesthetized/scolded for some considerable time. Not good. The meal progresses from forgettable mediocre dish to forgettable mediocre dish. The cactus salad was fresh but fairly dull and monotonous The shrimp dish looked beautiful but came with an unpleasant gummy texture. The aubergine dish looked beautifully lacquered but lacked flavor. The soft shell crab the accompanying sauces were the interesting bits the crab lacked flavor. The trout barbacoa a little flimsy on flavor The tomato dish promised the most the sauce certainly packed a punch however when you started eating it the juice from the tomato diluted everything. Apart from the searingly hot dish the meal was pretty forgettable. By contrast the meals at Sud 77 Loup Bar the previous two evenings were overwhelmingly wonderful and flavorsome experiences.
I thought it was very good, it was the first time we went and we recommend ordering the tasting menu, the service and the food were very good, not to mention, the barbecue potatoes were not to our liking, but the rest was delicious
