I had to deduct some points for service, as I specifically requested dine-in, tipped, and received disposable cutlery and drinkware instead, which felt awkward and took away from the overall experience. It might be best to visit this place just for the pastries.
Our coffees arrived quickly and were surprisingly large. They tasted great with just the right amount of foam, which set our expectations high for the food. When our meals came out, they were delivered straight from the kitchen. My wife's eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was crispy, the toast was a bit dry, and there was a small bowl of chopped fruit as well. She was thrilled with her meal. I was equally pleased with the French Toast, which I can confidently say was the best I've ever had. It was fluffy and maintained that texture throughout the meal. I later learned it was made with brioche bread. The portion sizes were generous, and I couldn't finish mine, which is saying a lot since I usually have a big appetite. My wife, on the other hand, cleaned her plate, which is also noteworthy. Overall, we were very happy with our breakfast choice. The interior décor felt straight out of IKEA, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food was definitely worth a return visit. In summary, I would recommend checking this place out. It might be a bit pricey—our bill came to $40—but that could just be the old-school part of me speaking. We enjoyed watching the activity on Wilshire Blvd as we ate. Update (February 13, 2024): I visited again today and noticed they’ve switched to self-service. I assume they made this change to cut costs on labor. You now order at the counter, and the prices and portion sizes remain similar. The French Toast had a slightly different taste this time, not bad but not quite as good as before. My wife was pleased with her meal, and I still think it's worth a try. Parking is available in the back.
I really enjoy their shortbread cookies, and the coffee is slightly better than average.
Incredibly delish food and kind, welcoming staff. I always have a great experience when I go here.
I think I had high expectations. I *love* French pastries and always grab a tart when the option is available. I went for lunch and had a turkey sandwich and quiche. I also *love* quiche. This quiche was good, my daughter and I sampled both the vegetarian and meat option. The sandwich, not so much. My turkey tasted like it was frozen and defrosted. I ended up removing the turkey. I also ordered a tart, macaroons, and strawberries to go. My tart was honestly the most disappointing part. I was expecting the typical glaze on top but it was like jello. The fruit on my tart was mushy and the apples were shriveling like they were drying out. The tart almost had a cake like consistency with very little pastry cream. Overall, I was disappointed. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high or there was something off about my sandwich and tart.
