I have added a few of our favorites and can not promise that they get the same dinge except an amazing meal!
We celebrated a birthday here with their Omakase. Worth the money! You have to reserve and plan ahead before coming in. Each course has it's own unique taste. I love how they got uni and wagyu on the course. Perfect for daye night! Also don't forget to pair it with sake.
Surprisingly both the ramen and the sushi were very solid! Almost always a place that serves both will be bad at one of them but iki has got solid food across the board! Sushi- the rice was warm and the fish was pretty good quality! The fish was weirdly a little soft/squishier than expected across the board but it tasted fresh Takoyaki was very tasty! The batter was nicely flavored and there was a good amount of octopus per piece Yuzu ramen- this is only the second place I've tried yuzu ramen at but it was quite good if you like lighter ramens. The yuzu was clearly there but not overpowering the soup. The chasu was a bit dry but not bad and the noodles were a nice texture I was sad I was too full to try their dessert but that just means I'll have to go back! They also partner with the local bar 2 doors down so you can order iki takeout and eat it at the bar which has some cool local brews
I feel like I'm on a mission to find my favorite ramen spot in LA and Iki has topped the list so far! Im only giving 4 stars because I can't help but compare to other ramen I have had and it just doesn't meet the 5 stars, yet. But I'll be back to try the other ones! I got the truffle butter ramen and it was delicious. I will say, the noodles here are some of the best noodles I've ever had! The broth was rich with truffle flavor but I felt like I was missing a salty element to it. I know truffle ramen usually isn't salty, but i think because the base broth wasn't as rich in flavor, I left wanting something more. The pork was awesome, lots of fat and very tender. Glad the ramen came with wood ear mushroom, I could've done without the corn but that's my personal preference. I forgot to take a pic of the salmon ikura don I got on the side but that was a perfect sized pair for my ramen. The ikura also lacked salt lol but the salmon itself was melt in ur mouth buttery. Both were portioned excellently and I'm very full! I was able to snag a seat without waiting because I came on a Saturday night around 8PM. Not sure how busy it can get though in other times/days.
Booked 4 omakases through Chase/Tock. Kinda regretted not getting ramen with the place having ramen in its name lol but was more curious of the omakase. You pay, and tip, in advance to reserve omakases on Chase/Tock. Service was friendly. Parking was packed so plan ahead. The scallop, uni, burrata and truffle caviar appetizer was so creamy and yummy my girlfriend had it as one of her favorites of the meal. The seared bluefin toro was delicious, kinda hope we had more wasabi but it was nice, tasted like real wasabi. The pork belly bao was my one of my two favorites. The grilled prawn tasted burnt and would 've been nice if it was removed from the shell but served in it since it was a slight struggle to work with. I wasn 't a huge fan of the chawanmushi since it felt like a bland tofu soup adding a bit more ikura could have off set the flavor but also the crab was too cooked. My other favorite was the mazemen with squid and truffle. Felt like a Japanese Italian fusion gem. It was creamy yet savory. The A5 Wagyu Uni hand roll was great too. Kinda felt like there could 've been a better execution of the A5 Wagyu Ochazuke. Made a mistake of eating each portion of the sunomono separate, try to eat together for a better flavor profile. The Shio Koji ice cream was fire! $105 a person. Not filling but satisfying. Was a great experience but wouldn 't say I 'll opt for another omakase here. The prawn, chawanmushi, and A5 Wagyu ochazuke fell short for me but the pleasant service, toro sashimi, mentaiko and ice cream justifies a 3.5+/5!
