The chicken gyoza was also outstanding, definitely among the best I've had in LA! It was surprisingly juicy and packed with flavor. On the downside, the restaurant's floor was quite dirty, scattered with food and rice, and the waitstaff seemed indifferent about cleaning it, which detracted a bit from the overall ambiance. Overall, though, the food was fantastic! The servers didn’t seem very attentive unless prompted, but that might just be the restaurant's style. One odd moment was when my ramen was somewhat unceremoniously placed on the corner of the table; it felt a bit off, but thankfully, the food itself didn’t let me down.
We also had issues with service. Our drinks never arrived, even though that was the first thing the waitress asked us about after we were seated, and I eventually had to remind her. We ordered an additional item, but thankfully it never showed up. The Thai tea was unpleasant and ended up in the trash. To make matters worse, another waiter kept hovering around, trying to clear our table even though we were about to leave. If his hands hadn’t been in my way while I was signing the receipt, we could have left much sooner. Overall, I experienced poor service, terrible food, and an awful drink. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including bento boxes, sushi, and ramen. The edamame was enjoyable; we tried both the salted and spicy versions, although the spicy one wasn't really spicy at all! Overall, we found the food to be just okay. The menu offers a wide selection, and they even serve burgers in addition to the Japanese dishes. It's definitely a unique fusion!
I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a a tourist hot spot. We ordered the party platter to share as a table and it was highly disappointing. The sashimi was very chewy and fishy, as though it had been sitting out for too long. Rolls were below grocery store quality. If you find yourself craving sushi in Little Tokyo, grab something from one of the shops instead.
Decent sushi restaurant in the heart of Little Tokyo. One of my favorite things to do with my partner is to visit Little Tokyo and do some shopping around and eating. On this particular day, I was craving rolls, so we decided to dine in at Sushi Gala. We were greeted kindly and seated at a table of our choice. The cool thing about this restaurant is that there is a tablet where you can place and submit your orders, and even submit another order again if you want more food. We ordered a karaage appetizer, baked lobster roll, baked volcano roll, and a bottle of Ramune. Service was good, but I felt that the prices were a bit on the pricier side. But, hey, I understand that it's Downtown Los Angeles and that Little Tokyo is a good place for tourism as well. Overall, we quite enjoyed our meal.
