However, the shower had low water pressure, making it difficult to switch from the handheld showerhead to the overhead one. I had to manually squeeze the jets to get enough pressure to make the change. Additionally, it's worth noting that Mama Shelter has two bars—one on the ground floor and another in the attic. If you're on the 2nd or 5th floor, be prepared to hear noise from both bars until midnight.
I had a really sugary cocktail at a college-style bar last night that cost me $27. You might wonder how that happened. The drink was priced at $18, but when the bill arrived, they added taxes and an 18% service fee (which I’d never heard of before), plus another charge I can’t recall because I was a bit tipsy. In the end, it came to $27. I wouldn’t recommend going back unless the drinks are truly worth it (like, with platinum flakes or something), or they improve their pricing policy. Overall, I wouldn’t suggest visiting this place.
Cute room but the front desk manager was extremely disrespectful. I wouldn't go back.
Very limited and overpriced menu. Heat lamps on the roof are nice when it's chilly at night on the roof. View is cool if you can get actually get a seat near the sides. Honestly, I just felt like it was a very expensive, overrated experience. One visit was enough...
After a 45-minute Uber ride to Mama Slip, we were excited for our reservation, only to be met with a dirty look from the girl at the reception. She told us the restaurant was closed and wouldn’t be opening for dinner until later. When I mentioned that we spoke to someone who confirmed our 4 PM reservation, she seemed unhelpful and simply said, "I don’t know what to tell you." Feeling perplexed, we turned to try and figure out our options, but the staff exchanged glances among themselves as if we were in the wrong. Since it was raining and we had no other plans, we were left feeling lost and confused. Fortunately, another staff member from the bar approached us and asked if we needed help. They informed us that the bar was still open, and we could hang out there. It was frustrating that the receptionist hadn’t offered us this option from the start. Once at the bar, however, we discovered that the drinks were terrible—some of the worst we had on our trip. Despite hearing great recommendations about this place from everyone we know in L.A., it was surprisingly the biggest disappointment of our visit. We had been looking forward to it, but it turned out to be a letdown.
