Their line is always long during brunch hours! Waited in line for 1 hour. When you walk in, they’ll take your pastry order first. Let them know if you are dining in or take out. The plate/container is out into consideration! Order at the front and they’ll hand a cup with a number. Then you’re free to find a spot to sit. They do have upstairs as long as it’s not closed. They need to see your cup number to bring you your food! Croque madam: it was delicious!! I wish they added more bechamel sauce but the amount spread on the toast was still fine. Would recommend! Cauliflower nachos: it’s pretty good!! Majority of the nachos are covered with their sauce which I do like. They could definitely add more cauliflower as we got many small pieces and a few larger pieces sprinkled around the plate. Koshihikari rice: mix it!! 2 poached eggs was the perfect amount! The flavor was so delicious! Would recommend! Ginger ale: lots of ginger! It’s good!! Parking: we parked on the street in the residential and walked over to the restaurant. It’s not far, but definitely do not block others driveway! Price: their price is higher but I’d say to give it a try! They have lots of unique food and pastries. I’ve been trying all their dishes every time I come and have been loving it!
I 've enjoyed République for breakfast and brunches but this was our first time for dinner or . It was a completely different experience menu, service, prices, everything. We were glad to get a reservation on a busy Saturday night. For starters, the 4 of us shared the amazing Rodolphe le Meunier butter baguette with sea salt. I couldn 't stop eating it! Luckily, the baguette was unlimited , but not the butter salt. We shared an earth-crafted garden baby lettuce salad. Very light and very refreshing. We each got a bonus small cup of soup. I think the server said it was mushroom ? It was light, creamy and tasty, but served lukewarm. It should 've been hot, but it was free, so we couldn 't really complain. Next came the wood-fire roasted brussel sprouts cauliflower over oven-dried grapes, sweet potato hummus harissa and Dukkah. Bold Mediterranean flavors and spices. We also shared the scallops dish, but the 4 of us had to split 2 medium-sized scallops. It was very tasty but very expensive for 2 scallops. Perfectly cooked, great sauce. We skipped the pasta and risotto dishes and went with 2 Fourth Course dishes: Red wine braised Wagyu beef cheeks, and Liberty duck. Roasted duck breast confit leg, prepared medium rare, with roasted beats, asian pear and peppercorn jus. Half of us preferred the duck. The other half preferred the wagyu beef cheeks. Lastly, we shared a strawberry tiramisu 2 bites each. It was okay. I regret no ordering the chocolate fondant which takes 15 min or longer. Maybe next time. The coffee was rich and flavorful. The waitress was super helpful. The servers were fast and efficient, yet not pushy, allowing us to talk about and enjoy each dish. Like many popular restaurants, the crowded restaurant gets really loud. Overall, it was a good experience. Noisy, small portions, pricey, but tasty. But for French cuisine, I prefer Pasjoli in Santa Monica better value, quieter atmosphere.
Where should I begin? The positive: the food is unbelievably good! We tried the BLT, and it’s out of this world. We wanted to try everything from the pastry window, but it’s almost impossible due to the wide variety. We ordered the croque madame, and while the ingredients and flavors are top quality, the combination left us feeling sorry. It missed the creamy and cheese experience in the kitchen! Nothing to do with the original. The creme brulee bombolone and the other one, I can recall its name, were excellent! Finally, the atmosphere is beautiful! But, there are also some negative things. First, the system to get in has many flaws. After almost 40 minutes of waiting, you pay for everything in advance, just to realize the place is practically empty! That’s so frustrating… Second, the service. They have zero interest in giving you a good experience. Could it be related to the pay-out front system?
The food was amazing, the ambiance and the service was better than expected. Loved it!
