The receptionist's estimate of our waiting time was so bad and inaccurate. We did the walk in and was told that we would have to wait only 25-30 minutes, but after more than 1 hour of waiting, they still had no clue how much longer we would have to wait until we were seated. We have been here before, and wanted to come back because of the fun DIY aspect of the restaurant, but the wait this time was ridiculous and totally not worth it at all. I don't want to come back!!! Highly recommend tourists NOT TO GO, especially if you have activities planned for the day!
Family trip to Slappy Cakes after swim lessons today! Wasn't expecting Michelin Star cuisine, but for the audience it was perfect. Kids get to make their own pancakes on a griddle located center table while parents can sip their Spanish Coffee and await delivery of a kitchen preferred meal. For me, it was the Forest Scramble with spinach, red onion, bacon, mushrooms and goat cheese, Served with a choice of toast. My son added a side of biscuits and gravy and boom! Blueberry tart was a nice offering with buttermilk pancakes, obviously blueberries and topped with lemon curd. Hue is rancheros was another selection which was well received with eggs beans salsa and corn tortillas/flauta. Atmosphere is a bit noisy but not intolerable! Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
We've been to the slappy cakes in Maui, HI and I must say the experience is way different. It's a cute concept, how you make your own pancakes. However the enjoyment stops there. The waitress we got didn't seem to care about service. What's most disappointing is that we're a family of 6, and have been to restaurants that add a 20% tip but deliver the 20% service to go along with it. This waitress added 20% without telling us nor was there any signage saying they would add 20% for parties of 6 or more. Then delivered 10% service, I felt like I was a cheated and the food is not anything special. You go here for the entertainment of our kids not the quality of food or drinks. Just majorly disappointed about the service and the non communication of this establishment!
Wow what a find recommend by a foodie at our hotel. This place has a great atmosphere and attentive staff. Cool cool concept
