We've been eager to try this little gem for a while, and today we finally made it downtown. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful host. We ordered chirashi, a sushi assortment, and a couple of rolls. Given the rave reviews, I had high hopes, but while the food was good, I didn’t find it exceptional. My main complaint was that the sushi rice was dry and a bit undercooked, leaving me with crunchy grains in every bite. The fish was nice, but again, not outstanding. On the plus side, the prices here are significantly lower than what you'd find at typical sushi spots in Sun Valley or North Hollywood—and definitely much cheaper than in Little Tokyo! So, for the price, it’s a decent value. I must mention that the miso soup was excellent! If I return, I’ll likely stick to the rolls and skip the nigiri.
This was some of the best sushi we've ever had! Dining on the sidewalk and enjoying conversations with fellow patrons was definitely a highlight of our day in the city. We ordered the Crunch Roll, the Washington Roll, Salmon, Garlic Edamame, Pot Stickers, and a side salad with house dressing. Delicious fish at fantastic prices! The owner is always present and is incredibly friendly. This cozy little restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to return every day. It's situated in a nice, quiet spot, complete with an outdoor table where you can sit and enjoy some people-watching.
This is definitely some of the best sushi I've ever had. Nabeeya closes quite early, around 2:30 PM, and I often forget about it because I'm always craving it later in the day! But when I remember, I'm always thrilled. My go-to order is the sushi roll with crabmeat, fried shrimp, and eel—it's one of the most delicious rolls I've ever tasted, so full of flavor and freshness! I would give it a perfect 10/10. I also really enjoy the shrimp fried rice; it always comes in a generous portion and is absolutely delicious. Don't let this cute little spot fool you—it's fantastic, with quick service and amazing food!
