Yummy tamales and a good portion for the price. As of 2/24/22, each costs $2.25 and half dozen costs $14.25. I recommend the chicken with green sauce if you can eat spicy. The elote one is sweet corn tamales, though it's not my thing. The owner is very nice and will tell you about good deals. She said it's been in business for like 30+ years already. Super cool!
Best tamales in LA. chicken, pork, and mole were the best flavors by far would definitely go again.
This place has gone downhill recently. They have 2 locations. One in Sunset and one in Temple. The sunset one has morphed into two business in one. I guess they sell crepes now too? Service used to be amazing. Now they get every order wrong, they tell you they only accept cash when you order for pickup instead of telling you over the phone, they haven't even started the order you placed. It's all over the place. We used to order from this place all the time. But as of recent their service is horrible. Will not be ordering from them again.
I was walking my dog in echo park and starting craving tamales, after some research, this shop popped up. I was really excited to try it out, but unfortunately the experience was subpar. By 10:30 am they were sold out of most of their tamales except for cheese and jalapeño and pork I think. I ordered the cheese and jalapeño tamale and veggie burrito to go. I went home to eat it, and to my surprise the tamale was covered in blue and purple food coloring. I called the restaurant to ask what that was and if it was safe to consume the person on the line told me they do this to differentiate tamales and it's safe to eat. I thought that was weird but okay, but the weirder thing was that they still sent the wrong tamale. It was spinach and cheese instead of the one I ordered, so I guess their method isn't working too well after all. The veggie burrito was pretty okay too. I think this business has potential, but they defs need to hire more people to do quality checks before serving the food. I don't know if I will go back though.
