Several things stood out to me and made it a great dining experience. The interior decor gave off a New York City vibe, which was a nice change from the usual LA feel. Our server was prompt and attentive, despite having to wait on other tables as well. The food was served perfectly and looked great. The menu looked appealing and everything flowed smoothly. The lobster mac and cheese was my favorite dish, with the perfect balance of lobster, pasta, and cheese. I also appreciated the presence of the GM, Michael Callahan, who did a great job supporting his staff and making our experience seamless. Capital Grille's location in Downtown LA is a standout, amidst the constant opening and closing of restaurants in the neighborhood. I will definitely be returning to try more dishes from their menu.
Tonight was my first time this DTLA location, however I have been to about 4 other locations scattered around this and the East coast, and it was just as good as the others that I have been to. It?s a bit more casual than other steakhouses (in general most chains are more casual) so you will see more sneakers, t-shirts, and baseball hats than some other fine dining steakhouses, but also prices are a bit more reasonable in comparison so it?s to be expected. A goodrule of thumb is anywhere that has salt and pepper on the table is a more casual setting. Our server Paulina was very polite and did a great job the entire meal. However I had to send a steak back to the kitchen for the 3rd time in my lifetonight (and I dine out 2x week every week). I ordered the Filet Mignon medium temp and it came out jiggly soft, which I know means undercooked, and sure enough when I cut into it it was almost rare. They rushed it back and it came back outsliced so it just took away from that experience a lot. When it did arrive the steak was good, but not great, not charred and more buttery vs seasoned than I prefer. Also there was no comp at all to make up for the mistake of thekitchen/expediter. We also ordered the jumbo lump crab cocktail which was very nice probably my favorite part, the lobster bisque and the French onion soup which were also nice, and the wedge salad which was not a hit at the table due tothe wrong lettuce to toppings ratio (tons of lettuce but little else) but in comparison to other locations close by like Nick Stef?s, LA Prime, and Flemings there are better, and definitely fancier, steakhouses to choose insteadconsidering this is expensive as well. This would be good for a first date perhaps, but would not be ideal for a first year anniversary if she?s discerning. The bar area is really great though so a meal with friends or even a casualbusiness meal would be more appropriate. Overall I would try again but each time I have been to a Capital Grille it
I had a fantastic experience and would definitely return to this restaurant. We arrived about 15 minutes late due to traffic, and typically staff can be upset when I call to inform them of our tardiness, but the staff here were kind and reassured us not to worry. It took me some time to decide on what to order from the menu, but our waitress (a very pleasant Ukrainian woman whose name I cannot recall) was very professional and did not rush me at all, which I appreciated. The food was excellent, although my chicken was slightly too salty for my taste, it was still delicious. Our bill came out to $200 in total, but it was worth every penny. The manager, a wonderful woman with short blonde hair, made sure we were satisfied before we left. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the staff and atmosphere were welcoming, comforting, and overall great. I will definitely be coming back here.
My 30th birthday dinner was a huge surprise. My mom had mentioned this place to me before, when she told me about the painting of my comic book idol, Stan Lee. The food was delicious and they even had my favorite drink. The waiter was very kind and the staff was friendly. It was a cool experience.
During the Oscars weekend we acted like total fan girls!!!!! And where do fan girls go?drumroll please ???? ???????? Capital Grille???????????? We got dressed up and headed out to celebrate our dearest cousins birthday. Shoutout to ANEX who called ahead to notify them there was a birthday in the group. Our table was decorated with confetti and a hand written card lay beautifully displayed at the table LA is a busy town so valet parking should be expected. Make sure youhave your tip money ready. Upon entering the venue there?s a huge open bar to the right. This space is surrounded by TVs so if there?s a game your hoping to catch you?ll want to sit on that side of the room . If you?re seeking a romantic, candlelight atmosphere head to your left. We ordered a round of drinks and I became the official taste tester. The drinks were strong and suite and I especially loved our waiter who feverishly shook our cocktails table side along with awonderful drink presentation. Call me spoiled but I love a good show The bread display was spot on and although you may not think it?s a big deal they serve your butter at room temperature. Have you ever noticed other place give you coldbutter and you fight with your bread to make the butter spreadable I ordered to Parmesan crusted lamb chops medium and quickly learned my dish was a fan favorite as everyone took a bite. No worries I?m a really good sharer Truffle friesare also a must have. Most of the time the truffle butter is drizzled on top but this place levels up as each French fry taste infused with truffle. The chicken and burger were at a tie for me both bursting with flavor and really greatportions If you?re a fan girl foodie like me check them out
