They also offer a selection of drinks, which you can find in the cooler behind the counter. My mother particularly enjoys their pastries, specifically a long, thin pineapple-flavored one (I can’t remember the name!). As for me, I'm a big fan of their strawberry cake—it's delicious! There’s still so much more to try among their wide array of baked goods. Every time I visit, I'm captivated by the variety displayed in the shop window, and I often find myself pondering which treats to choose. If you're looking to avoid the crowds, I recommend coming during non-peak hours, such as lunchtime or evening on weekends, or during special events in Little Tokyo. You’re sure to be delighted by what this bakery has to offer!
Yamasaki Bread Cake is a popular spot in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. Be sure to try the ring doughnut, mini cream puffs, and the very popular steamed cheesecake. They also offer steamed buns, including curry, meat, and taco varieties. I love it! Definitely worth a visit and highly recommended.
The entire shopping area feels like a charming piece of Japan, but what stands out to me is the bakery. Their pastries and cakes are excellent—much more delicate and refined compared to typical American options.
I waited over an hour to visit this place, and as a big fan of Japanese bakeries, I can confidently say this one lives up to the hype. It reminded me of bakeries in Tokyo. They offer a variety of breads, pastries, and steamed buns. I tried the curry steamed bun and the pork and veggie steamed bun, and they were absolutely delightful! I happily devoured one of each. If they offered these frozen, I would definitely buy them for lunch often. I also sampled their roll cakes, as I’m a huge fan of those too. I tried the green tea mocha and strawberry flavors, and all three were fantastic!
Best steamed bun that I have ever tested. The outer bun was so soft and perforated- I would love to eat it everyday!!. We tried the curry man and veggie man buns. Veggie had the mushrooms and the curry was chicken
