We enjoyed our lunch in this restaurant. Local specialities on the menu so great if you like duck and walnuts. The service was friendly and the food good.
YES, I am living nearby and YES I want to support Lou Cantou BUT: As an opera singer I travel a lot and I love good food and good cuisine! If Lou Cantou was in Paris where I live mainly it would be one of...the best restaurants with south west cuisine! The owner Monsieur Cayrousse who cooks himself has learned his art by his grandmother who cooked in former times in the grand cantou the big chimney where you could make dishes that are so delicious you won 't forget them for a lifetime! If you are in to entrails try the trippes à la maison a taste you will never forget! We know the menu very well but everyone has it 's own taste. Very warmly to recommend: Salade Quercynoise, Omelette aux cèpes, côtes d 'agneau, trippes, the plat de jour dish of the day that is always delicious and PLEASE try the rocamadour aux pommes! It is the local goats cheese toasted on a slice of wonderful local bread with caramelized apple slices. SOOOOO YUMMY!!!!! If you like Martin Walker and his novels come to Loubressac and have a nice lunch or dinner at Lou Cantou and you will understand why more and more people decide to settle down in this region! PS.: They have also B&B
Traditional French cooking in a family run hotel with prime location in a historic village (un des plus beaux villages de France) with stunning views over the valley. Sunday lunch menu comprises 5 courses to be taken at leisure. The menu was somewhat haphazardly translated...into English: we discovered the hard way that 'ris d 'agneau ' is not 'laughing lamb ' but sweetbreads, i.e. lambs brains served in a rich gravy. However, overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Cheaper than the nearby Relais de Castelnau, not as refined but maybe more authentic.
Nice terrace with view of the personal valley very welcoming menu of the day delicious foie gras and lamb chops irreproachable
