Chose to eat here as the restaurant was warm and the doorways closed unlike some other cafe bars! The food was good and reasonably priced. Tarte aux pommes was very palatable.
This review is of the restaurant inside the Hôtel Saint Sauveur Le Brasserie Salon de the Hôtel Saint Sauveur. I’ll comment on the first few positive things servers are very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The location is dated but relatively clean, could be cleaner. The menu is in four languages English, Spanish, French, Italian. The price is overpriced for the food and service but everything seems inflated in this area and comparable. Now let’s talk about what matters: this restaurants food is absolutely terrible. The menu makes everything look very flattering but it’s all overcooked, under seasoned and probably microwaveable. The food came out cold. Grilled salmon was so overcooked, tough, and didn’t actually appear grilled. It had zero flavor other than “fishy”. The accompanying green beans were drowned on olive oil and salt. The side salad was literally plain lettuce without any dressing, additional veggies etc. The grilled steak had so much fat on it that half the steak was probably fat. Underseasoned And overcooked. The fries were without salt and mushy. Side salad same as above. The pizza looked like reheated frozen pizza. The cheese was not fresh at all, it was very thick and tasted like plastic. Otherwise sauce was fine, pizza crust was fine. Personal pizza sized. Coffee tasted terrible espresso and American coffee. Though they looked good in the display, we did not try the dessert for fear they would be as terrible as our meal. Really disappointed with this place, though I haven’t had good food anywhere in Lourdes yet... I guess you come here for the pilgrimage and not the food.
Christmas time in Lourdes is a mixture of a lot of tourists, out-of-season closure of hotels and restaurants and cold weather. We were lucky to find the restaurant of Hotel Saint Sauveur, open all year round. We were not the only one going for dinner, the room quickly filled up and although we ordered soon after arriving, this was a waiting game. Some stressed and inexperienced staff slowed the whole service down and we all got a rebate on our bill in the end. The food was good and we wish them better luck next time.
