If you're looking for place that doesn't serve classical food this might be a good place to visit. It's not only a restaurant, it is a time machine that transport you in different period where food was made with only local groceries, and there is no Coca Cola or pancakes for desert. If you are family oriented and your kids like chicken nuggets and pizza, you will probably not be thrilled. But if are someone who likes to explore genuine food based on recepies of locals you might have found your next favourite restaurant. Very polite and open-hearted host Ante will share with you stories that you will never have chance to hear anywhere else. It is a story about Medveja, Istria and history of Croatian cuisine that will help you to understand better locals and its gastronomy. First of all the food that we had there was very delicious. Since long time we didn’t eat such delicious grilled fish. Second it is a family owned restaurant and you can feel the warmth right after you anter the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and talkative. They have their own homemade products such as balsamic vinegar and olive oil which are also very delicious. Last but not least the view of the restaurant is also amazing. Hvala na svemu Konoba Kali! Tasty food (we chose a variety of dishes and all of them vere cooked/seasoned to perfection). Dishes that include fish or seafood were fresh (the owner came to our table with a plate of fresh fish and seefood to chose from). The beer tasted great as well (Zlatý Medvěd) and so did the wine (we had house red, but it is not something to drink for a whole night, since it was a bit on the heavier side taste wise). The owner himself was very welcoming. I will end this review with 9.5/10, will come again (the owner recommended bear steak, so we might try that).
