McCabe's Famous Homemade Ice Cream

I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant in New Brunswick. It was a complete rip-off and a waste of money. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs.

Despite the numerous negative reviews, we found the ice cream to be delicious. Our conversation with (presumably) Mr. McCabe, which lasted more than 15 minutes, was an added bonus.

My husband and I were on our way to Fundy and have been seeing their signs for years so thought we'd give it a try. We should have asked the people coming out as we were going in seeing that they we empty handed...big hint!! Our first thought was that it was pricey but since it was "homemade" maybe it was worth splurging for. Well it most DEFINITELY was NOT. I got the maple which was $9.50 and my husband the coffee for $8.50 for one small scoop. Imagine paying $19.00 for a double scoop! And small it was! I've had homemade many times and this didn't come close. Don't waste your time and especially your money here.

Grumpy staff (only the owners work there!). Dirty establishment. Poor hours. EXPENSIVE!!!! Small servings! As a New Brunswicker I am ashamed that this place exists. On behalf of all New Brunswickers I feel I must apologize to the world for the rip-off that this place is. Sorry. There are better places and better ice cream. Chapman's and Cotticoat (sp?) for starters.
