I typically dislike Italian restaurants because I know I'm just paying $20 for a plate of noodles, which frustrates me. However, Tavola was a whole different experience. The aromas were bold and adventurous, and the flavors were strong, with reasonable portion sizes—no more mountains of pasta that you can't possibly finish. The desserts, particularly the Almond Cake and Maple Pudding Cake, were exceptional. I’ll definitely be returning soon and often just for those treats. We also tried a good variety of cocktails, all of which were fresh, flavorful, and strong enough to make you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. I can’t emphasize this enough: this place is fantastic and truly deserves your attention.
Really great Italian food and great staff. We came on a Saturday without reservations and the owner managed to squeeze us in even though they were fully booked. Really appreciated the service and food.
I am going to two stars because the service was very good and the people are nice but it ends there. The tomato and fresh Mozzarella was served with hard as a rock non ripe tomatoes. The pricey Lasagna was made with a tomato sauce that tasted like doctored canned sauce, possibly the worst Lasagna I've had in I can't remember and priced close to $20.00. I can only think the folks giving this place 5 stars have never actually had good Italian food. I would never, ever go back. Wish we'd gone for Tacos in town I hear they are good.
There aren?t enough stars to rate this restaurant! The service was top notch, the surroundings are comfortable and elegant but not snooty, and the food was nothing short of amazing. My son ordered the Crab Cake (special). The presentation was nice, topped with a bit of lobster. The cake itself rivaled the best we?ve had; lots of crab, a little cake, and sautéed to perfection. We each had a House Salad; fresh and tasty with a good assortment of vegetables. For our entrees we had the Lobster Ravioli (special), Chicken Francese, and Penne a la Vodka with chicken. The Francese melted in my mouth! The sauce was perfection and the cutlets were thin sliced and tender. My son completely devoured his Penne dish. My husband enjoyed the Ravioli, which came topped with shrimp. The meal was tasty but the fact the lobster was puréed instead of torn took away from the experience. For dessert we had their ?new? chocolate cake, yum! And my husband had the Key Lime Creme Brûlée, which he enjoyed. I would go back weekly, if I could, and would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
The food was of exceptional quality and far surpassed our expectations. We ordered from the Family Takeout menu for a group of ten and chose two bowls of chicken parmesan, a tray of penne alla vodka, and a half-shell garden salad. Everything was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to cut the chicken - no knife needed! We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later as well. I highly recommend this place if you're in the Ludlow area; it was the perfect choice for a high-quality meal during our stay.
