Two of us visited here on Wednesday afternoon. The staff was busy, but very friendly. Food and beer are on the spot. They had two beers to offer, a Pilsner and a March we both liked. Other beers are on the menu, but are seasonal. The staff spoke all English, but were kindly patient with my very imperfect German. That was a nice stop.
Well, expectations were kind of higher, advertising itself and recommended for its ‘own craft beer’. I was greeted at the entrance by a big pile of malt sacks from Weyerman. That helped that expectation. Only to be offered three beers, barely anything special other than the Rauchbier, which was very nice (subtle, not too smoky, yet special enough). Upon the waitress recommendation I order the angus burger, medium rare over the regular burger and also more highly recommended semi-local fish dishes. The burger was not only almost cold (at best room temperature) but also far far medium rare, but over cooked. By the time service arrived everyone else had finished their dish. I did not order a second chance. They ‘accommodated’ my complaint by serving me a small beer on the house. So sad ... here is a small cute turn with a chance for a higher end ace at a good price and they are ... sorry ... pretty pathetic.
If you're looking for the authentic German restaurant/pub - you'll struggle to find much better. Great beer, excellent food - highly recommended. Best to book in advance however as it does get rather busy, especially towards the weekend.
