Casa Morales - Lufkin

We dined at Casa Morales after stopping by Paul Nerren's Junk Barn off the highway. The Morales Special and the salsas were outstanding. The restaurant features a spacious bar with a jukebox and offers delicious Tex-Mex cuisine.

This restaurant offers authentic Mexican cuisine with delicious food, excellent service, and a warm, friendly atmosphere! This location features beer and margaritas, which the original spot in downtown Lufkin does not provide.

That's pretty good. But if you come in a large group, are prepared for very slow service. For over half an hour, before only half of our group got food. Or even refill on drinks. Apart from that, the food is delicious.

The restaurant has a very hole-in-the-wall vibe. It’s a bit rundown, but the owner was incredibly kind. The bathroom has two stalls without doors, which felt a bit odd, but at least there was a lock. We were initially hesitant to try the place since we stopped by on our way home, but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! I wasn’t a fan of their tortilla chips; they were a bit grainy and had an unusual taste. However, the salsa was tasty, and overall, the food was fantastic. If you enjoy hole-in-the-wall restaurants—of which they have a few—definitely give this one a shot!

A long time friend recommended this place and I decided to buy him lunch. The place is easy to miss if you are not looking for it off Hwy 59. It's has a little rundown outdated scenery but in a month this place will be relocated closer to Lufkin due to the Hwy expansion project. Not sure of the actual location at this time. Despite it's less than appealing atmosphere the food was actually really good. I only got to try one dish that was called the Eddie Special. It consisted of three enchiladas (meat of your choice) and three crispy tacos with your choice of meat, refried beans, lettuce tomato and avocado for less than $12 which to me was a good value for the amount served. Given my first impression of the meal I highly recommend anyone in the area to visit before they close this location but don't forget to ask about the new location coming soon.
