The waitress was prompt and friendly and our orders were taken as soon as we were ready. For the entrees we had the onion bahji, lamb chops and fish morsels. All were OK but no standouts. Mains followed fairly promptly and again it was all OK but no nothing special. We had the chicken korma (good), prawns (just OK), carrot and beans (good) and the lamb shanks (OK) with the usual accompaniments. We left full and it was very reasonably priced. No alcohol served so you need to BYO. All in all, a relaxed and pleasant dinner in the burbs but nothing special.
His is quite possibly the best Indian restaurant in all of Canberra and it is tucked away in a nondescript shopping centre in the upmarket suburb of Isaacs. It has had a change of management and a new Punjabi chef and manager provide delectable food and superb, outstanding service. I asked for goat curry and the lady manager advised me against it as she preferred to serve fresh meat no older than 3 or 4 days how wonderfully dedicated to quality and first class dining is that? Outstanding. Why is this restaurant arguably the the best Indian place in Canberra? Well, the sumptuous dishes have a very special flavour thanks to the exacting and dedicated practices of the chef. Everything is freshly prepared and freshly roasted fenugreek, green chillies and ginger complement every dish served here. The fenugreek provides a wonderful contrast to the standard Indian fare you experience at most other places making the dishes mouth wateringly delicious. The day I was there I was the only customer albeit it was very early in the evening. However all Canberrans who are lovers of Indian cuisine should get out to Aroma and taste their tantalising fare and support the excellent dining they bring to the capital.
Some new and interesting dishes. A little slow however everything was fresh and obviously cooked to order. Do try the Kurkuri onion and spinach bhaji which was a real treat.
Authentic Indian flavours, like a kick in your mouth. Hard to ever replicate on your own. 5/5 would recommend
