Vella's Fish Bar - Mackay

This fish and chip shop is probably one of the best I've ever visited. The prices are reasonable and the chips are double fried, giving them a delicious crunchy outer layer and a soft inside. The menu offers a wide variety of options and the food comes out quickly. It's the perfect meal to enjoy at the beach on the weekend. I highly recommend the family pack with extra calamari, it was delicious!

Always Excellent tasty, fresh cooked Fish and other options, calamari, chips, etc. Never oily.

The chips were excellent, with a large portion size for one person. The tartare sauce was outstanding and highly recommended. It costs 2.50 but is worth it as it is supposedly homemade. The only downside for me was the fish, specifically the mackerel. While it was well-crumbed, the fish itself was dry and tough. This could just be my experience, as they have many positive reviews. The service was quick and friendly, and the staff seemed well-prepared to handle a busy crowd.

Nice chip shop that was very popular on a Sunday. For this reason there was a bit of a wait. Serving size of chips was decent, nice and crunchy just needed more salt. Potato scallop was huge and smothered in batter so good! Prices seem fair

YUMMO! It's been about 10 years since going here. We tried it the other weekend with two fish and chips. Deeelicious! Ate half a serve each then put the leftovers in the airfryer the next night and demolished it all. Hands down, Vellas is the best for seafood. Burgers are the next trial menu item. Oh, make sure you order ahead!!
