Val's Takeaway - Macroom

Traditional Chipper with great service and the staff are great also. Very thankful for Vals they’ve kept us fed and always a great and welcoming conversation with delivery drivers. If you’re hungry and enjoy real chipper food then Vals is the place for you, especially in Macroom.

Outstanding fast food restaurant. The owner is welcoming and generous with the french fries. Authentic Italian ingredients are used for the pizza. Complimentary lollipops are available for children. The restaurant has a lively and joyful atmosphere that is perfect for families with young children.

During my three-week stay at the Castle Hotel in Macroom in September 2023, I often found that the hotel restaurant was closed by the time I returned. On those occasions, I would head down the street to Val's Takeaway for a meal. The menu offered typical chipper fare such as pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, and chips. The food was decent, typical of what you would expect at a chipper. The service was good, although there were a couple of instances where my order was incorrect, but the staff quickly rectified the mistake. The takeaway had six booths for dining in, and closed on Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. Parking was available near the front entrance. Although they did not have ice for drinks (which I prefer as an American), the workers were always willing to provide me with a cup for my soft drink.
