I’ve been fortunate enough to have great sushi from Okinawa to Tokyo to Hokkaido. I’ve had great sushi in Miami and LA and Napa Valley. None of those meals can surpass the experience of Sushi Monk. Calvin is a remarkable sushi chef!!! He is a treasure for southwest Ohio. If you enjoy sushi and you haven’t been to Sushi Monk you are cheating yourself. Go there soon.
First time here was for a work Christmas party earlier this month. The food was simply amazing!! The owners and staff were attentive and a delight to get to know. We had a pretty large group and were perfectly comfortable. All of us have been raving about their food and drink selection ever since. Like I said, we had a pretty large group so parking was a bit crowded, but there’s street parking and the Kroger parking lot is right next door. I feel it’s worth noting that one of our team members have an extreme nut and shellfish allergy. The owner made sure he had zero issues and everybody had a wonderful time. I couldn’t wait to take the family back to see for themselves what I’d been talking about. This is hands down our new favorite restaurant!! The flavors in their dishes are incredible. The filet hibachi melts in your mouth. The flavors in their sushi rolls were nothing like we’ve ever had before. (And we all love sushi! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Our server Amy, was wonderful and her recommendation of the TNT sushi roll was spot on. I highly recommend the Citrus Sake!
After reading the raving reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We ordered the simplest types of sushi, just rice and fish without any cream cheese or sauce. We also had Tonkatsu ramen. The sushi was just ok fish did not have much flavor. The ramen was ... weird. The soup did not have the typical creamy color. It was rather clear. The noodles were definitely not Japanese ramen. They tasted like the Cantonese noodles. Within similar price range, we prefer Ando in Blue Ash and Mei in Montgomery fish are better and ramen has the correct texture.
We had a very large group, and the staff was so kind and accommodating! The food was fantastic- highly recommend the citrus sake and hibachi filet! Will definitely be going back.
