Romanelli's Italian Eatery - Madison

I’ve tried eating the vegan pizza at this place twice but both times I didn’t enjoy it. It tasted dry and stale. I also tried the penne but it wasn’t anything special. I much prefer the food from Tino’s which is only a few blocks down. Two stars because at least they offer well labeled vegan options in a primarily non-vegan area. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I can’t recommend it.

Very few options for vegans and staff not knowledgeable about what is actually vegan.

Not only does Romanellis serve authentic Northern NJ pie, a rarity in itself, but rarer still, a variety of *vegan* meat and cheese options! Tasty vegan cheese, vegan pepperoni, vegan sausage, and vegan chicken cutlet are all on the menu. We were surprised and delighted today when we received, along with our vegan pie, a delicious vegan chicken sandwich topped with balsamic and arugula; this item was listed as simply a chicken cutlet under the Side Orders section of the web takeout menu.
