The Statehouse - Madison

Upscale dining room with a lovely view across the lake. Bar made an excellent rye old fashioned for me. The courses, while well cooked followed each other out with too much speed: I was nearly finished with my excellent Cesar salad when my entree appeared . It was all a bit overprompt: better timing, please. My 6oz. filet was perfect, but it was difficult getting through the crust with the dull dinner knife that came with the setting. Next time, a steak knife, please. Thestaff were cordial and accommodating. It was a bit pricy, but the view made it worth it.

Atmosphere and views of the lake were excellent. The food was well prepared, filled with flavor, cooked as ordered and presented well. The staff was courteous, attentive, and provide a positive experience. The portions are smaller if you go with the steak or fish option. If you are hungry better to go with the burger and fries.

Superb dining experience. Arrived about 1.5 hours before our reservation. Had some drinks and appetizers. The bar staff was attentive and personable. Was able to be seated well before our reservation. Had the smoked trout dip and wild mushroom bruschetta and recommend both. Our table had the prime rib special and I ordered the braised beef short rib. Both meals were exquisite. The blend of flavors and oh the polenta!

View is fantastic, service was good. Eating was just okay. I was definitely underwhelmed and expected more from this place.

Prom weekend dinner. Food was good but it was a little expensive but we knew that going in so overall it was great!
