I ate at the bar and had the most excellent ensaladilla rusa (potato salad with vegetables, olives, hardboiled egg and fresh tuna) and grilled shrimp to order. Locals were sipping vermut apertifs with lemon on ice at the bar next to me. There is a more formal, expensive restaurant upstairs, but I recommend the downstairs bar experience. Not expensive if you know what to order; many good choices for a light lunch/snack.
Place is in one of the busiest and most frequented places in Madrid. The food was not exceptional and was on the high side. Tasted better food for the price paid.Bread was not free and the deserts were very expensive. Staff was not that welcoming . Personally would not consider a repeat visit.
We'd been on our feet for sometime on this day and were in Puerta del Sol and decided to take the weight off and sit in an outside area and people watch. Arysol was at one end of the area with a table free so we sat down. We hadn't read TA about the place but luckily we were not after food. Four beers, one each were ordered and although it did seem a little expensive when we got the bill, I didn't think it was too bad given the location. Service was reasonable but they didn't really talk to us or approach us after we said we were just after a drink. So really the beer was reasonable and the place and service was reasonable, but then we didn't have anything to eat. I'd sit there again and have a beer or two.
Should have checked Trip Advisor! We 'd been wandering around Madrid for a couple of hours trying to decide on a restaurant and thought this one looked good so went in. Should have been suspicious straight away as there was no one there! It really was terrible . The only thing good was the wine. So disappointing! Totally couldn 't believe that a Madrid restaurant could be this bad for the money forked out.
One of the places located in the very heart of Puerta del Sol, where you can try percebes, bigaros, and some other delicious seafood dishes with a nice cold beer.
