Granja Blanca in Pl.Jesús is a brilliant local bar that offer a well priced range of drink's and superb well priced tapas and is a truly local bar in a superb area of Madrid. This brilliant bar has a lived-in interior with nice local decor and furnishings and many different beer bottles on display. With many interesting fixture's and feature's and a TV screen and fruit machines on display'its as local as a bar can get. We visited here mid-afternoon on a red hot day and went in here for a few beers. It was very busy in here with mostly locals (I don't think they get a lot of tourists in here). When we visited here we had a couple of bottle's Mahou Cervecería Clásica which were first rate and we also got a dish of tapas. The beers and tapas were superb and well priced. This bar was a real joy to visit as it is what it is a local bar full of locals in a really good area of Madrid and well worth going to.Easy to find from Antón Martín metro it's a short walk.(This is my 1st review of Granja Blanca). Opening Hours. Monday-Friday-07.00-01.00. Saturday-Sunday-08.00-02.00. Hours May Differ From Above. Public Transport. Metro Stop. Antón Martín metro stop.
If you want fancy fare, look elsewhere. How this place can afford to survive a couple of hundred metres from one of the world’s greatest art galleries god knows, but there it is. Simple is right it’s intensely local, the staff know all the clients, there were no tourists and it’s not fancy. There are two fruit machines, a tv constantly on, a series of gas bottles under the counter, and the decoration is old photos and beer cans/bottles. In other words it’s exactly the way Madrid cafes are meant to be. It serves great tomato bread with oil, coffee and orange juice. This is ‘el desayuno’. Picasso would come here were he still alive...none of the ridiculous pretensions of the old town cafe scene. Recommended.
