Strandvillan's Cafe - Maersta

Located next to a playground, this restaurant has a lovely cafe garden where you can enjoy coffee and apple pie while keeping an eye on the kids playing. The pleasant garden setting made us very satisfied with our decision to dine here.

On our last morning in Sweden, we finally arrived in Sigtuna late enough to visit this café that opened in the morning. Every evening as we passed by Sigtuna, and every morning before leaving, we admired the charming garden tables and the beautiful pink building with its front windows overlooking Lake Malaren. Excited to see the doors open, we decided to stop in, even though we had already eaten breakfast elsewhere. Although the café was mostly full, we decided to share some pies before heading to the airport for our flight. Raz's Rhubarb pie, with its crumble topping, was tart and tangy, and he absolutely loved it. I wouldn't have been able to take a bite without the sweet Crème Anglaise drizzled over the top and pooled at the side of the pie. My own warm Hazelnut pie was accompanied by a side of something between whipped cream and ice cream, rich with Madagascar vanilla. The texture of the Hazelnut pie, similar to pecan, had a unique hazelnut flavor that was slightly exotic and delicious. I highly recommend this café for its pies, and if we ever have the chance to visit Sigtuna again, we will definitely stop by for lunch, their specialty.

Showing our New Zealand friends around Stockholm and obviously we must visit Sigtuna. I had seen the restaurant on previous visits but never visited so this seemed like the perfect occasion. As with many Swedish cafes the menu is limited but should meet everyone’s desires. 3 ordered warm salmon salad and I ordered Cheese Quiche with salad. Then we ordered one plate of pancakes (4) so we had one for each of us. It was all good and the salads were very tasty. We laughed though as there was a dog bowl but no water. Need to sort that out. All in all a lovely setting, good food and excellent staff, who were both friendly and happy. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Cozy little caffe with a wonderful view of the water side. I had the pancakes that really tasted good and buttery. it came with a beautiful skyberry sauce and homemade whipped cream. I'll go again!

Amazing caffe, has everything from delicious baked goods to well cooked meals. the coworkers of the caffe were welcoming, helpful and kinder perfect place to eat something and admire the amazing outsight. in any case recommend!
