We visited Francesco's for a client dinner and found it conveniently situated in the heart of Maidenhead, just a short walk from our hotel. We opted for appetizers and entrées, with my colleagues trying the spaghetti carbonara, which we all agreed was fantastic. I had the risotto, and it was excellent as well. However, the standout of the evening was definitely the goat cheese appetizer. This charming and cozy restaurant provided us with delightful service and a wonderful meal, making for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Do not judge the book by its cover. The outside might not look too appealing, but the inside is very Italian and cosy and the food is really good. I have been twice now with my colleagues and all have gone a few times in different occasions and they all agreed the food has never been anything but good. There is also a lot to chose from: pasta, gnocchi, pizzas, antipasti, calzones, risotto and even a couple of dishes with meat and fish. Top tip: if you like calamari, order them here.
The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. The lasagna and salads were outstanding. Be sure to save room for dessert!
We were looking for a place in maidenhead that served good food, had good atmosphere and, participated in a little festive cheer, especially as we wanted to escape the crowds hanging around after the seasonal shop, and the biting cold. We approached a few restaurants, some were deserted, the staff in another one didn't even approach us to be seated, even after mulling around for 5 minutes in the foyer making faces at a waitress, showing distress and growing impatience, we left, grumpily. And then we found this gem. Beauty!! From the moment we walked in and were greeted with a smile, seated and offered drinks.. Th restaurant was lively and overflowing with convivial conversations, and silly party hats. Some choir singers, wrapped in woolly winter apparel collecting for charity came around singing perfectly to plump a rosy nosed cherry on the atmosphere, wonderful, smiles abundant. The menu as I remember it was massive, and took a while to diges. I am always concerned when I see a menu so large, though many of these were variations on the basic premise, pizza, pasta, etc.. I had the linguini, cherry tomatoes, flaky chunky cod pieces with mussels and king prawns. One word amazing. The mussels were just right, and the prawns did involve some nimble finger work in order to release them from their shells, but they were good size and very flavorful. believe me, when I say the finger bowel to wash my greasy paws in was much appreciated. For desert I went with the Sorbet with lemon pieces, it was wonderful, and as per usual in my haste to devour this delight ended up with acute brain freeze, lucky my coffee came with desert, a wonderfully silky but rich espresso. The service was great with friendly waitresses, reasonable prices, if you start adding alcohol I imagine the cost o per head would soar. I would revisit for sure, the pizza's that floated past is looked amazing. I am up for one of those next time.
