The decor is a bit rustic and subdued. There are just a few chairs and tables because most of the guests prefer to sit on the floor in the traditional hausa way. The Tuwon Shinkafa and Okro soup I had was really good so I decided to order something else off the menu to take back to my hotel. I ordered rice and stew and it wasn’t good. I recognized one of the more overpowering spices in the sauce to be Ajino Moto and that’s all I could taste. They decided to add a salad to my meal (which I didn’t order for) and that tasted a bit sour. The white rice wasn’t any good as it had stones in it. I wish I had just stuck to the traditional meals.
Hadiza Bulongu Restaurant is a wonderful place to eat, more especially if you're for native dishes. One interesting thing about the one in Maiduguri is that, as a visitor to Maiduguri it's expected of you to come back home with either of the two, CAP or FISH. While eating in that Bulongu Restaurant in Maiduguri you will see different amazing styles of Caps and one of the best you can get in Maiduguri.
Great spot to eat some local foods. Clean and serene.
A good place to try a wide variety of local Hausa/Kanuri delicacies. Gooooooooood tea! The best part.......sitting on the floor to eat!
