The terrace (which is the supposed highlight of the place) was not open for some reason, since it was sunny that day. The ambient of the room where...I had lunch had nice decoration, but the acoustic was terrible because I could hear the whole conversation of the tables nearby really amplified, even though they were not speaking really loudly. Since I didn't speak German, they treated me really poorly, with stuck-up attitude and making me willing to rush my lunch and leave the place as soon as possible. Not a single smile or a thank you to make me pay an astronomical price for a burger I could beat myself cooking at home. Avoid it. There are so many better places to eat in Mainz. I only went because it was superclose to the hotel where I stayed for a night
Wanted to book a table and ask questions but the front door hostess was extremely rude, saying she had enough to do and was very busy and was not willing to answer any questions we had. Not a good way to win customers.... I will...not be back
Historic and beautiful place for a tour, drinks and upscale dinning. We visited with a friend from Mainz who arranged a tour of the old wine making facility which contains the largest wine barrel in Europe as well as many cool old pictures and jewel...encrusted wine goblets, etc. Lots of history in the place and they are renowned for their Sekt which is wonderful sparkling wine similar to Champagne. They have a beautiful garden out back with seating where we had drinks and then retired inside to one of the main dining halls for a wonderful dinner. Their wine selection is outstanding and their menu is not very large, but the food was done perfectly. You can order by courses and I had soup, veal and tortellini which was all excellent. The service was great too – white glove service no less. Overall this was a unique experience and I would highly recommend it. This is a great venue of for a large party or a romantic dinner for two. This restaurant is located right across the street from the Novotel Mainz
We visited the Kupferberg Terassen as part of a wedding party. The bride and groom arranged for us to go on a tour of the old facility followed by an excellent wine tasting (Sekt/champagne comparison). The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Kupferberg history...as well as the differences between Sekt (sparkling wine), German Riseling, Champagne (Brut) and French Champagne
Great place to go a wrap with magnificent view of mainz. the terrace is a large beer garden with a large selection of very smooth beer. they come as often as I can when in the city, it really has a kind of relax and rejuvenate...me
