Mole Biergarten Sommerlounge - Mainz

We spotted this little outdoor bar/beer garden when we went for a late afternoon walk along the banks of the Rhine. We stopped on the way back, we stopped for a glass of Riesling. You order at the bar and choose a table by the river or one of the easy outdoor lounges. They serve bar-style food also although we only had drinks. It was a delightful spot to sit in the sun and watch the barges and the cruise boats slide on by. The view only got better as we watched the afternoon light fade away and the sun start to set. Combined with the walk along the river, it was a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so before dinner on a summer afternoon.

This beer garden is an excellent place to get a beer, refresh ourselves and enjoy the view on the river. There is a lot of space so that it can accommodate large groups. The food options are pretty limited (this is a beer garden after all) and include burgers and sausages, as well as a few sweet options. Whilst the fries (potentially to be paid as extra) are excellent and tasty, the rest (I tried several classes of sausages) is usual in the sense it was not bad, but it did not trigger anything special at the same time. The price of the beer is reasonable, but the food is quite expensive for what it is. Finally, there is no service at tables, and we need to queue at two bars to be served. The bar taking care of the drinks works fine, but the one responsible for the food was totally disorganized. If I have to go back there, this will be only for the view.

We stopped for a coffee as we were walking along the Rhine, which was good, so we went back for lunch. The burger (pork) was not to partner's taste but my twister fries with sour cream would be hard to get wrong. With a coke and a lemon drink it cost €18. It is a lovely setting overlooking the Rhine and with mix of seating including loungers.

Just wonderful. there you can relax and enjoy. in the chair a view of the Rhine and a beautiful drink. what you want more. prices are good. the buffet staff very friendly. we're coming back to relax.

We sat in the sun on two chairs, which enjoyed beautiful view in sunny weather and an excellent hugo.
