It is wonderfully relaxing to eat in only 100% gluten-free cafe in the opposite! eating is nice and the service is terrible. had fish and chips, very nice. Generally 2 pieces fish, smaller by the side, but tasty dressing. (priced difference from what was loaded on the board to what was charged.) we had to ask 3 times for water what it was delivered with a sniff commentary, very small glasses and they took the bottle. I chose the venue as coeliac. sat with non-Celiac friends who suggested to go next time, because of the bizarre bad service. Oh, good!
Eating was best average. the service of young girls in opposition was the worst that I had somewhere. after it is so excited to have a complete gf menu to choose from very disappointed.
Beautiful atmosphere, love to detail. many menu choices. beautiful table service even on a busy day. all meals in our group were delicious and generous. good price and best coffee ever. we will return.
Just had an AWFUL experience at Bread and Water in Maitland. Was really chuffed to have a 100% gluten free cafe to take my coeliac daughter to whilst on our travels. Decided to ignore the less than friendly welcome, alarms bells rang a little when we were told they don’t serve tap water (only bottled water ironic given the name of the cafe! , rather surprised that I couldn’t have scrambled eggs when ordering ‘eggs your way’ (only fried or poached . The real icing on the cake came when I asked for the strawberries and cream that came with the waffles to come on the side so my 5yo daughter could choose what she ate (she can be a little fussy and I didn’t want to risk her not eating the waffle if it had other stuff on it already . I was told this was not possible as it ‘messed with the creativity’. Seriously?! Not willing to adapt creativity to cater for a 5yo coeliac customer?! Suffice to say we left indeed, the owner was encouraging us to go. Seriously disappointing and not a venue I would recommend. — at Bread and Water Cafe
