We have been to this restaurant several times since the one in the Larios centre has been closed for reformations. We used to think the one in central Málaga was outstanding but for some reason standards don’t seem so high in this particular one at Plaza Mayor. For us the meat is never cooked properly as ordered. One family member likes it rare and it comes well done. Others order it medium and it sometimes comes raw and cold inside and other times totally cremated as per our visit last week. I ask why the chefs cannot time it to be cooked perfectly and why the wait staff serve it burnt when it was with them it was ordered medium? We have often had to send it back recently more so and once it’s had to go back very often the meal is ruined as you end up eating on your own and your appetite is lost. Other food is perfect but for us the steak (which is the main reason we go) is letting this restaurant down badly. We are fluent in Spanish so the reason for this is not a language problem. It is a shame but there are plenty of other newly opened restaurants that we may try next time instead when in Plaza Mayor.
Block House (with other local branches in Larios Centre Malaga and in La Canada Marbella) has opened here within the last few weeks, located on the Plaza Mayor complex, which has an abundance of shops particularly clothing and also a Yelmo multi-screen cinema complex. We went for lunch on a cold January Saturday following watching a film in the cinema complex. Understandably, because the plaza is so busy at the weekends, like all the other restaurants they are unable to take reservations for couples and small groups at peak times at lunchtime on Saturdays. We went to the restaurant at about 2.30 and there was already a queue for tables, so we put our name down and waited around 30 minutes, after which we were shown to a table inside. With warmer weather at other times and the ability to seat guests outside, it will probably be quicker then. We both had goulash soup 4.90€ to start which was excellent. For mains one chose the filet mignon steak 180g 26.40€ (the soup price was included with this menu option) and the other chose the turkey cesar salad 10.80€. Again the food was very good and the steak was perfectly cooked as requested (al punto). We had sparkling waters and wine by the glass. Although the restaurant was really very busy we received excellent, prompt and friendly service. They have menus in Spanish and in English. Well worth the wait and will definitely return.
La carne es muy buena, los acompañamientos también pero el postre lo tuvimos que devolver ya que no estaba fresco. He de decir que nos lo quitaron de la cuenta. Servicio impecable y ambiente algo ruidoso y con humo de los platos calientes para terminar la carne.
Comida excepcional, como el costillar, el plato fitness o la tarta de queso. Y un trato magnífico de parte de Fernando. Repetiremos para probar el resto de carnes.
