By far the best tamales I've ever had, and I love the fact that they also offer vegan tamale options! The service is great-I love that this is a family owned and run business-and am so thankful to have them in the neighborhood!
Found this place based on a Seattle blog and it did not disappoint. I was a little nervous going in because I’m vegetarian and a lot of the reviews talk about the vegan tamales, but I wanted a burrito. The guy at the counter was super nice and helpful, letting us know that they can make most things vegetarian. I got the vegetarian breakfast burrito which had cheese, egg, rajas, and potatoes in it. It was substantial and extremely delicious. The tortillas were absolutely perfect. Pair it with the tomatillo salsa, and wow. Highly, highly recommend. Will be back with friends!
A very casual neighborhood cafe with an ethnic flair. Expect to wait in line or at a table so don't be in a hurry.
Ordered chicken black mole tamales to go. Took home, removed plastic wrap, and steamed. Quite good. Excellent masa. Wish they had a bit more mole, tasty! I also ordered a cheese and bean burrito as a snack. Toasted nicely, good flavor. I noted, too late, they had a chili rellano burrito. For sure going to order on next visit!
If you are like me and appreciate funky little neighborhood eateries with good food, then Cafetal Quilombo is the place for you. It is located among a nondescript sliver of small businesses on the busy street of Colombian Way in South Seattle. I wish I could tell you more about the menu, but I am stuck on the few things that I really like and only buy at this location. They have the absolute best queso dip of any I have ever tasted. The portion is generous and is flavorful with just the right amount of spicy kick that I have never tasted in other quesos. I have had chilaquiles with Carnitas (pork) and with chicken and both are excellent, generous portions with lots of meat and dressed with lots of ingredients. I love a good chili rellenos, however I think theirs has just a bit too much breading for my taste. They have good tamales, and while many think they are some of the best in Seattle, I consider them good, but not necessarily the best. They have pupusas, which are not found in many Mexican eateries. But they lack variety. Each time I’ve ordered them the choice is only bean and cheese. But they are good. If I can break away from my usuals and taste other things, I will let you know. In the meantime, hope I meet you at Cafetal Quilombo.
