Cakes Trees - Maltkiln Lane

Got a slice each of the vegan cakes they had on the counter: oreo and banana. Both very dry. The oreo cake lacked flavor. I thought they were expensive for the size of the slice: $7/each (these were not layer cakes, they were closer to a small loaf in form). I do not mind paying for quality and/or flavor ..neither were there. Vegan cakes are better at Hollywood Bakery.

Friendly counter person. Lots of plants. Variety of items beautifully presented on cake stands. Coffee too. But the lone item purchased on this multi-destination celebratory day was the Detroit Bumpy Cake (10/2/21). Delicious!

The pour over coffee here was remarkably good and the pumpkin pie/cake was delicious! Glad to have this place around!

We tried: Sausage, egg, and cheese bao Spicy eggplant bao (vegan) Lemon velvet cake Detroit bumpy chocolate cake The sausage, egg, and cheese bao has SO MUCH potential but is it filled with cheese whiz?? Or is it Kraft singles cheese? The cheese inside of it was liquidy. The spicy eggplant bao though was bomb. Many of the cakes had the wrong ratio of frosting to cake (80% cake, 20% frosting, I like mine a little more equal) but we did get two different slices and they were good! What's more? The shop sells plants! So get your cake and get your trees!

I love this place! Allison and Michael are the best! The food is amazing and the plants are well cared for!
