This remarkably small coffee stand at the Canyon Lodge entry from the ski slope side has become the high point before and after daily skiing in Mammoth. Before, to start the day with a great coffee and some fresh and light plain croissants or egg/ham/cheese croissants; at the end of the day, to quickly collect the tired legs and catch up with WiFi, again with a coffee or a hot chocolate and one of those super delicious fruit pastries which are freshly baked at the lodge itself!! And despite long lines or tired customers, Stephanie, Melissa, and others were charming, efficient, and always open for a chat.
Our server was exceptional!!! I accidentally left my wallet on the counter and this lovely person named Javi saved it and drove it all the way back from home to get it to me! Can't thank her enough!
This is a review for the chocolate layer cake, which I shouldn't have gotten but tasted so good I had to Yelp it. Skiing and snowboarding can sap one's strength, n'est-ce pas? Mammoth's Canyon Lodge (located at the top of the egg-shaped gondola run) is the perfect place to kick off your skis and grab a bite. Given that there are literally no other bites to grab at this elevation, prices are quite fair and the chocolate cake gets two black diamonds. Whoosh!
