Barbakan Delicatessen - Manchester

Nothing special. Pre made sandwiches. Just warmed up. Won't be going again. Expensive for what you get in cardboard packaging .

I visited the restaurant on Saturday, November 26th at 4:20pm, just before it was due to close at 5pm. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately rushed by two staff members who reminded me that they were closing soon in a frantic manner. I explained that I just wanted to purchase some turkey, and one of the ladies with short, curly black hair began to slice the turkey for me. However, as I was browsing the items on the shelf, she stopped slicing to hurry me along, saying that they were closing soon. I felt that this was rude and unnecessary. I noticed that there were four other customers in the shop who were not being treated in the same manner. I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years, and have always found the staff to be polite, but on this occasion, I felt discriminated against. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will not be recommending it to others.

My friend and I sat outside and enjoyed an excellent bacon bap We decided to buy items from the deli. Everything looked so appetising. I purchased a 4pk of poppy seed rolls, as I love Polish Makowiec and anything with poppy seeds. I have to say I felt very let down by them as they tasted bland and the dough was awful, have had nicer elsewhere. My friend purchased Polish bread, when she arrived home the other side of Manchester) and had a slice, she was shocked as to how stale it was. Unbelievable for such a well established bakery to slip in a stale bread for a customer, should not be allowed. The other thing that needs addressing is the customer service from an elderly blonde lady with glasses, she was not very pleasant, had no personality and was not very engaging, very abrupt. It wasn’t that busy but she seemed to just want to serve me quick, take my money and move on to next customer. I wanted to ask about a certain salad but I felt i was imposing on her. Overall I will not be back in a hurry as there are better deli’s around with excellent customer service, and staff that are pleased to see you and want your custom.

I have been told many a time about how good the food is here so I paid them a visit the reviews are great so they should be I ordered a hot dog and a piece of freshly made quiche wow the quiche alone was worth a visit all the staff were exerrlent and helpful can't wait to go back well done

I recently visited Barbakan to have a quiet lunch the Sandwich I ordered was taken by someone else when my number was called out! Just a mistake on both parts really I mustn’t have heard them shorty anyway.. the staff were so lovely and kind, the couldn’t apologise enough and it was rectified very soon after! All the staff are well mannered kind and would be happy to help en asked! The food is always so good, Thank you for doing an amazing job!
