However, the host initially told us they were fully booked for reservations, even though the restaurant was not full. After some confusion, we were eventually allowed to sit at the bar. We ordered drinks and found them to be a bit lacking in alcohol content. The food, like guac and chips turned into nachos and Moqueca, was enjoyable. The staff could use some improvement in communication and drink making, but overall it was a decent place to eat.
Come here for drinks and maybe appetizers, but meals seem to fall short on quality. Many 2 for 1 drink options and others available to be sure to check the menu for the best deals. We came here for dinner last evening and enjoyed a few appetizers including the garlic bread, chicken nachos, albondigas, chicken quesadilla, crispy cauliflower bites o which the albondigas and cauliflower were the hits worth ordering again on a future visit. For entrees we ordered the Gaucho steak and Argentinian burger, would not get either again. Drinks were all good and had a plethora available. There was trivia going on when we arrived and late night has nice loud music playin throughout the restaurant and bar area.
I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant with a few friends and the service was excellent! The food was amazing too, and it was our first time trying new dishes from different places. I ordered the moqueca de peixe, a seafood dish with a delicious subtle sauce. One friend had the xinxim, which was similar but with a peanut sauce and chicken. Both dishes came in a candle clay pot to keep the food warm, along with a side of rice and plantains. My other two friends tried the burgers, including one that was beetroot-based. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, perfect for a group of friends dining together. Overall, it was a great birthday dinner and I highly recommend trying this restaurant for good food and great service.
I've only ever been here for drinks and it's always done the job. They have buy one get one free on a very decent range of cocktails, so they work out at just under £4 each, or £18 for two pitchers. I'm pretty sure they do this all day every day! The bar staff are always friendly and approachable, and I'm pretty sure one of the guys is superman (it's the hair I tell you.. We got 2 x jaguar milk (how does one milk a jaguar I wonder?.. this tasted like dessert in a glass. 2 x vanilla Mai Tai's which were strong and yummy 2 x Las Iguanas Cosmos which were my least favourite as they didn't taste anything like regular cosmos, which is what I was expecting... but if you read the menu it does clearly say they use pomegranate juice instead of cranberry in their version so that was my bad. I'll be back to sample the food. P.s. you have to buy 2 of the same cocktail.
You know what I've been coming to LI for what is probably around 7 years now and have to say that it usually hits the spot in terms of food and service. I'm not really a big fan of chains but these guys try to freshen it up as much as possible with seasonal menu changes, an emphasis on fresh ingredients and an attempt to put as much whallop into the spices as possible. On this occasion I was after an affordable and tasty lunch with being on the bottom Deansgate area of town. The lunch menu was good value at £6.90 a main and I went for the cuban sandwich (chilli beef flavour) the sandwich was tasty but I regretted getting the curly fries as they were a bit too stodgy. I also chucked in a side of nachos at the special lunch time price of £2.90 which definitely helped sort out my hunger. Both courses were tasty if nothing spectacular but definitely served a purpose. Good to see them now selling proper beer and their day of the dead range have been something I've been keen to see in more bars for a while. Main tip get the IPA, it's lovely! *extra tip, they sell Pan flour here for £1.90 a bag, perfect for making arepas and other tasty south American bready dishes!
