First, it is very loud inside, when many groups are dining because the room is tiny, and the tables are packed closer together. Second, our waitress wasn’t very friendly and attentive, but she was busy, since the place was full. The atmosphere overall is welcoming. The food was pretty good. One issue is that the cup of tea was only half-full. Another is that crispy rice sushi are way too spicy in our opinion. Tamago sushi were delicious, so were the blue crab rolls, but they resembled California roll too much. Udon soups were fantastic and very balanced. The food is brought very quickly, even though there were a lot of people.
Great Sushi and Sashimi. Hero is a good Sushi Chef, and is a work in progress. I was surprised at the price as I've been eating there for years, long before he owned it, and it is substantially more expensive. I guess it's a sign of the times.
Hiro's restaurant is TOP NOTCH. The sushi was Oishii, the fish was fresh, the presentation was gold-standard, and Hiro, himself, was a joyful energy who knows EXACTLY how to do it RIGHT!
This place is a treasure the owner and his staff are incredible and the quality And consistency of the sushi Is top notch this place has been in business for a very long time but this owner took over a few years ago and brought it up to what it is today nothing less than one of the best sushi spots in Manhattan Beach.
Chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura, and sashimi combo, aka 'kaku ', comes with miso soup, salad, and rice, all for under $18. Very good meal, with lots of variety, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
